Getting Sick in the Holidays/ Sick Expectations vs Reality/What to do if you’re sick

Okay, trust me. Getting sick in the holidays. It happens, in fact, in the middle of my vacation, I got ill, and basically, I caught the flu. You know that hot after, a little less warm weather, AFTER summer? And then when a change of weather jumps in suddenly? When it suddenly gets cold after having a fairly HOT temperature, and you just get a high fever or the flu. Terrible.

And I know, during school you sometimes purposely WANT to get sick, but the problem is that when you “get better”, you’ll have a truck-load of homework, and you’ll be super behind, and trapped in a web of confusion, and, most of the time, there ain’t no superhero, a.k.a, a teacher who wants to be helpful, or a friendly, informative student so, yeah. BUT, the one time you don’t want to get sick is during the holidays, or any form of vacation which allows you to leave school, without having additional work to fill in when you get back. Basically, international holidays, like summer, spring break and winter break. Holidays where you know you aren’t the ONLY one missing school, and if the teachers are on that holiday, well, most probably, you won’t get any homework.

Here’s a quick list of things to do if you’re sick and bored:

  • Sleep: Duh. Even if you’re not sick. Sleep. 😉
  • Listen to an audio book: Reading just hurts my eyes when I’m sick, so, I recommend the tiniest amount of screen time, even though basically, when you get sick, you expect sitting on your bed with popcorn watching movies while everyone is at school having fun. No.
  • Take a hot bubble bath or a warm shower: You can try, I guess.
  • Draw: A hobby.
  • Laugh: Hopefully this post will make you laugh! Or at least smile! 😀

Getting sick

Expectation: Woo hoo! Sitting on your bed in comfy PJ’s and fuzzy socks, watching an awesome movie with popcorn while your friends have to do school. Yay!

Reality:  Sleeping the whole day and crying because your nose is blocked. Dreading the massive amount of homework you’ll have to make up for the next day.

Expectation: Resting on your couch comfortably, with a cup of luxurious warm tea, and happy thoughts.

Reality: Surrounded by disgusting used, snot-filled tissues. Oh, and you can’t find a position to lie in because your nose is blocked and super stuffy. Your eyes hurt badly when you try to read.

Expectation: Mmm! A delicious and nutritious salad with some healthy tea. Healthy, and yummy! Mmm!

Reality: Your throat hurts you too much for you to eat anything, and you’re starving, but there’s “nothing good” to eat. Ugh. 😦

Catching up with the latest gossip on your computer!

Expectations: You’re ahead of your class on everything! And laugh watching some hilarious cat videos.

Reality: Pixels hurt your eyes.

Hot bubble baths

Expectations: Candles, and losing your stuffy nose and relaxing and instantly getting better.

Reality: It’s summer, you’re already burning, and you’re too lazy.

Build a fort

Expectations: Have fun, and relax in a comfy and warm place.

Reality: You’re too lazy and tired. Too sick.

So, if you’re sick right now, reading this, or have ever (you probably have) felt like screaming- Body, Y U NO WANT TO GET BETTER, it’s break, then welcome to life. And get well soon! Hope this made you laugh, because laughing is one of the best medicines, so you’re welcome!  Happy New Years everybody. Everyone’s like, New Year, New Me, and I’m just there like, New Year, Still Perfect. Nah, I’m joking, because no one’s perfect. Have a great 2015, and an awesome school year, and try not to get sick that often, alright?

New Year, New Me

I know my title is super overused, but guess what? It doesn’t matter. I have a lot of personal New Years Resolutions, but I’m going to share my resolutions, the ones that I made for this blog.

A brief moment to go deep into space and think: New Year. It’s true. 365 days have passed, and tomorrow, you are a year older. A year bolder, a year stronger, a year smarter. 2014 has been amazing. It’s had its ups and its had it’s downs. I visited 5 countries. I went to Paris, Atlantis and London for the first time. It was an amazing experience. I don’t know what to write. Oh, yeah, I started blogging this year, after 2 years of thinking about it. It has helped my writing skills tremendously, you don’t even know! We also got a new bunny this year. My point is, there’s been chances in this year, smiles and risks, and sometimes, all at once. It’s hard to take in. 2015. Okay, listen, I’m trying to make this post extremely deep and meaningful, but I ain’t no stinkin’ poet, okay? Okay! :’)

Well, now, I’m going to be sharing my New Years Resolutions, or Goals for 2015, rather. Let’s get on with it.

  1. Post every week.
  2. Post every week, but on certain days?
  3. Always draft 2 posts beforehand.
  4. Draft the post before posting it.
  5. Always put at least 1 picture in each post.
  6. Update all the pages.
  7. Upload all my drawings.
  8. Reach 7,000 views.
  9. Finally do a contest.
  10. Organize categories and put posts in all of them.
  11. Do a scavenger hunt.
  12. Get 300 followers.

A few random thoughts I get every new year:

  1. When I take a shower on December 31st, I can say ‘I haven’t showered since 2014.’
  2. I can say so many thing like I haven’t eaten, brushed my hair/teeth, smiled, MOVED, gotten up from bed since 2014. It just feels weird, even though you know it’s just the next morning, but…do you get what I mean? Oh, New Years.

Also, Google down the countdown until 2015!

Well, I think that’s it. This is my last post before 2015. See you next year.

Christmas Tag

Hello! It’s almost 2015! I cannot believe this, oh my gosh. It’s like just yesterday Good Luck Charlie ended, and we were hanging up streamers for the start of 2015.Time flies. It flies faster then Superman. Okay, today I’m doing the Christmas Tag, because I was tagged by Mango025, also known as the amazing Khushi. Let’s get started!

1. Do you like to stay in your PJ’s, or dress up for Christmas?

I don’t dress up anyways, so… No, I’m joking. As much as I hate having to leave my bed and changing my clothes everyday, I have to. One of the perks of being a girl. Yay.

2. If you could only buy one person a present this year, who would it be?

Me! No, that sounds extremely selfish. Probably my cat, because she’s so easy to please so, thank you my dear grumpy fat cat.

3. Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

4. Have you ever built a Gingerbread house?

No, but my brother did! It was delicious!

5. What do you like to do on your Christmas break?

Travel or eat or sleep or watch TV. Usually all 4 of those, no lie.

6. What’s your favorite Christmas meal or treat?

7. What’s your favorite holiday movie?

8. Candy Canes or Gingerbread Men?

Gingerbread Men! I don’t like candy. Expect Kitkats!

9. Have you ever made a snowman?

Yes! In Canada, because I used to live there!

10. Which do you like better, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Christmas Eve, because Christmas Day is quite busy. You can’t go anywhere.

11. White lights, or colored lights?

For my bedroom, white!

That’s all for this tag, I tag all my fellow bloggers out there! Happy New Year, and have a GREAT GREAT winter holiday!

Christmas is just 5 days away, and let’s face it, there’s always that Christmas where you need to find a gift for a very complicated person, and you don’t have the time or whatever, but guess what? Sharpie Mug🎁
I literally just found this online, whoa it’s like amazing. Seriously.
All you need is a plain mug, and a few colorful oil-based sharpie markers in hand. You really could customize it however you’d like but I’m digging the idea of using stickers and then using your pen around them. Once you pull them off it looks really impressive. And if you make a mistake, chill. Just use a little rubbing alcohol, and it’ll wipe the sharpie right off. Plus, if you want the sharpie to be permanent use one of those oven things which I’ve forgotten the name of. I know it starts with K. Right?
 Homemade Luxurious Soap🎁
Had I known you can make these in a mini-muffin pan, I would have made them a long, long time ago! This is perfect for your luxurious bath, like, seriously, these are freaking amazing. If you like working in the kitchen, this might be the perfect gift idea for you. Literally just use soap powder. Once they’re finished, package them up in mason jars with a pretty ribbon.

DIY Glitter Cup🎁
Wondering how in the world she did that? It’s a double-walled cup! Don’t worry, you won’t be drinking the glitter. Starbucks sells them, but you can also find them at most department and home stores. You can even do this with photos. It’s simple, really.

DIY Glow Letters🎁

This is seriously AMAZING, and you don’t even need to go buy expensive couture furniture, which could be, what, 40, 50 bucks? Instead, here’s this original, easy, artsy AND idea, homemade and therefore, much more special. Basically, you can purchase these cheap plain letters at Target or your local thrift-shop. Next, make holes into your letter (your letter should be cardboard) and then stick in Christmas lights, which are everywhere this time of year, and voila. You can even buy them and arrange them to spell your name! It’s easy, cute, and personalized!

Glow-In-the-Dark Jar🎁

Super easy and cute!

This is pretty much the only drink, or any food you will need the recipe to during this lovely time for year.

    • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 quart milk
    • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (3 ounces)
    • 7 peppermint sticks; 3 crushed (1/4 cup), 4 left whole
    • pinch of salt

    1. After placing cocoa in medium saucepan, whisk in milk until the cocoa dissolves
    2. . Add chocolate chips and crushed peppermint; simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until chocolate and peppermint have melted, 8 to 10 minutes.
    3. Bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Add salt. Ladle into mugs; serve each with a peppermint stick.

    OPTIONAL: Toppings!

    1. Crush peppermint pieces, and decorate.

    2. Whipped cream.

    3. Chocolate Shavings.

*For decoration, it’s very festive and cute to place a peppermint stick inside the cup at the end for decoration.

    Melted Snowman Cookie🎁

  • A sugar cookie, plain cookie, or digestive cookie. Any type.
  • Lots of frosting. (Preferably white, red, green and other festive colors. Colors a snowman wears?)
  • Marshmallows

  • Place some frosting on the cookie, and place one marshmallow on it, so it looks like the snow mans head.
  • Using some colored frosting, draw on a nose, melted buttons, a scarf, etc!
  • Enjoy!

Here you go, and remember all of these CAN be used for any other holiday, and occasion, and remember, have fun with it! Merry Christmas!🎁🎁🎁

Things you didn’t know #2

By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you cannot
sink into quicksand. There you go. You’ll survive.

A rat can last longer without water than a camel.

To peel an orange: Gently roll the orange around to loosen the peel from the fruit. This will make it easier to remove the peel.

To clean carpet stains, pour salt immediately on a fresh stain on your carpet. Rub it in and leave it in for a few hours to a day, and then vacuum it out.

If you suspect someone’s mind is elsewhere during your conversation, cross your arms. If they cross their arms that means they are paying attention. I’m not sure about this one though…I haven’t tried.

When doing something you don’t like or a boring task such as cleaning (agh chores), listen to music and it’ll make the experience more enjoyable.

If you sprinkle salt on your napkin coaster, your drink won’t stick to it.

If you’re wondering if you shampooed your hair during a shower, you can pull on it. If it squeaks, that means you’ve shampooed it. Interesting. 🙂

10 Facts About Me

Hello!! How’s your December? I thought that it’s always a good idea to interact with your viewers, so I’m going to be sharing a few facts about me, and I’ll do this often. Also, you are welcome to post 10  facts about YOURSELF as well down in the comment section! In fact, I encourage you to, because I’d like to get to know some of my views as well! And trust me, these aren’t facts that you already know. P.S. If you wish you can share 7 or more, it’s completely up to you! (:

  1. I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only person in this entire universe that does this, but I get REALLY OBSESSED with a song, download it, play it over and over, and then get sick of it.
  2. I’m REALLY quick at memorizing scripts and songs, like I just have to hear a song twice to memorize it. But when it comes to academics, eh.
  3. I have so many motto’s, but most of the time I like to go by, “If you’re nice to me, I’m nice, if you’re mean to me…I’ll ruin your life.” Nah, I’m joking, but in all seriousness, I WILL get you back. No, actually, as much as I might hate you in the moment, I won’t do something bad purposely that I wouldn’t like to happen to me. And I generally get along with people.
  4. I honestly love to act and sing, but I don’t do it in front of people. It’s like how I’m slightly shy (SLIGHTLY), but once you get to know me, I swear, you can’t shut me up. Aha!
  5. Even though I prefer my right-hand, I can write well with my left hand as well. It won’t be as neat or fast, but pretty close, because when I was little I used to write with my left hand, then I switched and…I just CAN use both. (:
  6. In real life, I’m seriously an open book. No, seriously.
  7. I change my mind waaaay too often. In fact, I change my mind, the way girls’ change their clothes. I seriously cannot make a decision without making 5 pro and con lists in my head, and asking at least 4 other people about their opinion.
  8. I start panicking really fast. A second I find out something, like, I don’t know, that perhaps for example I lost my phone or something I will have a mini-heart attack, only find out it’s in the back pocket. Yup, been there, done that.
  9. If they gave out Gold Medals for Procrastination, I swear, I’d win EVERY year. So I have a week to finish a project? No problem. Until it’s the night before it’s due. Until it’s 10 hours till it’s due, THAT’S when I start panicking (again, my amazing talent which you learned about on fact #8). That’s when I start my project. One of my many fabulous qualities.
  10. FINALLY. I love animals! Like, all animals! Especially baby animals, because those are ADORABLE. Once, I even started a fundraiser for penguins. I feel proud. 🙂

Quick Bonus: Grammar and spelling mistakes make me cringe, but I do understand that just like me, everyone makes mistakes! But it’s the little effort that I hate. I try to put as much effort in my posts as I can, even though I don’t always get it to be 100% perfection. But then again, who’s perfection? If you are, then great. I hope somebody buys you candy.

Phew, that was quite a lot. Took some time phrasing, but that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this post. I enjoyed typing out about my favorite topic. (Me, Myself, and I. No, totally joking, I sound so narcissistic!)

Feel free to share a few facts about yourself in the comments below, and have a good day! xx
